Run for Robin
To honour and remember the 10th anniversary of the death of their much-loved uncle and brother, Robin Menary, from a brain tumour, Hannah Boyd and her mum, Nikki, having completed the Belfast Half Marathon on 1st May 2021, have committed to run 10 Half Marathons before 24th August 2021 to raise money for the Robin Menary Foundation for Brain Tumour Research (RMF).

The RMF was set up following Robin’s death in 2011. Robin was a strong, healthy, happy and very sporty 36 year old, looking forward to the birth of twins, when, without warning, he was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumour, one of the deadliest forms of cancer. Only 17 months later, on 24th August 2011, Robin died aged just 38.
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and young adults under 40. Brain tumour research is notoriously underfunded and depends greatly on the work of charities.
The RMF has so far raised approx £82,000 and our goal is to achieve £100,000 by the tenth anniversary of Robin’s death. The 'Run for Robin' which includes both Hannah and Nikki's challenge and a planned 10km event being organised by Robin's close friends and family, will hopefully contribute to this target and allow us to continue to fund research at The Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research at Queen's University Belfast.
Our vision to improve the outcome for brain tumour patients and ultimately find a cure for all types of brain cancer.
Finally, thank you for all your love and support throughout the last 10 difficult years.
