Robin Garcia has been teaching first grade at the Tucson Hebrew Academy for the past 7 years. She is a master teacher who ensures that her students learn how to read with proficiency along with teaching them both study and life skills that they will remember for a lifetime.
Her husband, Tim has been a Corrections Officer at the state penitentiary in Florence, Arizona for 13 years. They live in Oracle, Arizona, which is midway between both of their jobs. They each travel one hour each way to work, which has certainly put a toll on Robin’s 15 year-old-car.
They have a blended family of 6 children, ranging in age from 9 years old to 27 years old.
Recently, Tim has been suffering from undetermined seizures. They are on the quest to find out the source; however, until then, they are struggling with this new challenge. Tim is also a diabetic, which certainly complicates matters.
Obviously, Tim cannot drive to work now. He gets a few seizures a day. Luckily, he is receiving medical care at the Mayo clinic, which is a 2-hour drive away. Tim’s mother has been driving him at least twice a week while Robin was able to get a summer job at a Tucson day camp.
Of course, he and Robin are worried about finances (gas, medicines, old cars, etc.) and medical insurance coverage if Tim cannot return to work. They are an incredible, loving and hard-working family. Life is very hard for them now both emotionally and financially. Robin is not sure how long her 15-year-old car with over 200,000 miles will last with her 2-hour daily commute.
Tim and Robin are a very proud family and would never ask for help! That is why we must help! She is always there to help the smallest of our community, now it is the time for us to help the Garcias!
