Hello everyone, I’m fundraising to open a music school for children in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa Mexico.
This is something that is deeply in my heart. Music has been the third most important thing in my life apart from God and my family.
I believe that if we can teach children to play a musical instrument it will have a positive impact on many areas of their lives. As it has been the case in my own life and in that of many of my close friends and family.
My dad, Roberto, is a musician and he always had musical instruments around the house when my siblings and I were growing up (and he still does to this day). He would always play music from all over the world in the house which I loved.
This music school is named after him, my big brother who is also named Roberto and is also a musician, the late Don Roberto Maestas (who would often sit in and dance and play tambourine with our family band Banda Vagos) and The father of an 11-year-old boy (Miguel) that I met here in Culiacán who has incredible voice and innate musical talent.
When I was 10 years old I started learning how to play trumpet and eventually graduated with a Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies degree from the University of Washington.
Thanks to God and my family’s support, through music I have been able to travel to 5 countries in Europe, many states in the United States, Canada and Mexico doing what I love, sharing the healing gift of music with others.
Please help make this school a reality.
All funds raised will be used to purchase the building, purchase musical instruments, renovate the building for use and pay the teachers who will be teaching the children, along with other necessary expenses.
Thank you and may God continue to bless you
César
