**note - I am going to keep this fundraiser a secret until there is some $$ raised, so please help me and don't mention this to her just yet!**
Friends and family,
My mother, Roberta, is someone many of you know. Some know her as a teacher, friend, minister, collaborator, and family member. Some know her through her community activism, through her work as an art therapist, as a fine artist, through the gifts she gives and the presence she shares. I know her as mom, and she is the strongest, healthiest, most resilient person I have known. She inspires me daily.
She also is technically senior age and just got the news that she has Covid-19.
"My Covid 19 test came back positive. I tried to get tested through Kaiser more than a week ago, but appeared to be one of those pesky worried well. I found another way to be tested through a Silicon Valley company. I seriously didn't think I had it but I needed to know. The good news is that this appears to be a mild case. My doctor advises to stay home and call if the symptoms worsen. It is so important to stay home because there are many people out there that don't even know that they are sick. Kaiser is gearing up for a onslaught in the hospital next week.
This is a calamity of grimace proportions but it opens a door to redefine priorities. We will be able to build our world back up with hopefully more compassion and kindness."
I know this is an intense time and many people are in a place of the unknown as this virus sweeps around the globe. Many are impacted. I feel hopeful for my mom's health, as she takes excellent care of herself and keeps a good attitude. Her and my father both have jobs that involve being around people and also their airbnb has lost all of the business for the foreseeable future. Supplementing lost income would be really helpful in easing any stress as she hunkers down and rests to get better.
If you have anything extra and can spare a little, it would mean the world to me. Roberta gives constantly and asks for so little. Let's show some appreciation. If you can't give financially, please continue to hold her in your heart and prayers.
Thanks all,
Olivia/Firefly
