Robert's leg

Donation protected
Hey guys Robert would never ask for help but right now he is worried about not providing for his family being out of work. This is going to be a long road for him. Thursday he was having issues with his knee, it  became swollen so he went to kaiser urgent care. They did xrays and told him it was knee cap bursitis and he would be fine in a few days, to rest and swelling will go down. Knee cap bursitis made sense with him being a plumber and always on his knees. Days went by and it seemed to be better, he was able to make baseball tryouts sat as he Is the coach for MINOR B yankees. Saturday night going into Sunday morning he developed a 102 fever and chills, he had no feeling in his toes and his knee up to his hip was becoming more swollen, at that point he was not getting out of bed without help, could not bend his knee or deal with the pain. Sunday we decided to go back to urgent care to see if he was developing an infection as his leg was red and hot to the touch. Urgent care said it is in fact infected and we need to rush down to kaiser fontana and they do not see how it could be bursitis.  They were thinking septic joint. We arrive at kaiser fontana, they get him right in do ct, blood and ultrasound. After those tests they are scared he has necrotizing fasciitis which is a flesh eating disease of bacteria that attacks the skin. They had different surgical teams get called in to come give there theories basically of what it could be. They were worried that since the infection was already to his hip it was traveling to his heart and that could kill him.  One doctor was thinking they would just go in and drain the knee to see if that helps but the surgeon said she needed to make a 12 to 14 inch incision down his leg to cut out any dead bacteria. She warned us that he may have a huge hole and may require skin graphs in the future and multiple surgeries depending on how much dead tissue he has or fast it is traveling. They started emergency surgery at 10:18 Sunday night and found pus in his knee which was infected so additional had to do 6 in large incision on knee down to shin. They found some bad bacteria under the muscle in the hip that they removed and did a culture for. At this point they are growing the bacteria for 48 hours testing it to see what kills it. They are leaving his wound open until he gets another surgery Tuesday night. He is connected to a machine that is pumping the wound to keep it clean and blood circulating. After the bacteria tests they will then decide to close the wound or go back in and remove more dead/ bad tissue. His heart rate dropped in surgery so they had to send him to a special unit to monitor him until Monday.  As of right now Robert's blood pressure and heart rate are back to normal. We are just awaiting the growth of bacteria to see how bad it is. Doctor said he was very lucky when he came in as this could've been deadly. Robert will be out of work for a long time due to the extensive use of him on his knees being a plumber. He is already anxious wanting to return to work and baseball. We do not want him to worry about being off work for so long or any medical costs/copays as his only priority should be getting better. Honestly any donation helps or even a share as we have no clue yet how long he will be officially out. Doctor mentioned that he will need help at home and if I can take off a week or two to help with restroom, feeding and wound dressings as they are not sure how soon he will be up and walking or attempting to walk.  That will cause another finacial burden on our family if I have to take off work to care for him. Just with copays alone we are looking at 1200$ before we even leave the hospital. We thank you for your continued prayers and positive thoughts going through this journey.
