Hi, I'm Angel.

My heart & soul is deeply heavy right now. Never did I imagine that I will have to witness one of my favorite people in this world go through what she went through yesterday morning. Many of you know her as Diana Alatorre. She tried to save her boyfriend Robert Wall from taking his life and in her efforts she was unsuccessful. We talked daily about our mental health profession & how challenging it was. Especially, how difficult it was when it hits home. Even though we faced challenges & backlash, we truly loved our Psych Tech job with a passion. People never seem to understand the difference between medical and psych. So let me explain. In the medical field, nurses do a significant job, heroically fighting to save lives for those who fight & want to live but has anyone ever realized & considered how extremely mentally draining the psych field can be? Think about it, people assume this job is effortless but many of us out here are trying so hard with our blood, sweat, and tears to help, prevent & stop those who no longer want to live. A person’s psychology can be very tricky too because it’s subjective and so many people have been dismissed because it’s not as high of an importance as the medical field. Rob was battling depression and Diana made him seek help only because it became personal. Rob made great efforts to help himself but those actions were ignored & disregarded. Our system continues to fail us, and it failed him! Please wake up everyone! Mental ILLNESS & DEPRESSION are REAL! Please pay this your full attention.

Diana & Rob recently welcomed their first baby, a boy, Zachary Wall, in January of this year. My heart is truly broken and it sadly hurts because now I will watch him grow without ever knowing his daddy. I know Rob truly loved Diana & his son dearly but his pain & suffering was deeper than anyone of us will ever understand. Diana doesn’t like to ask for help, but as her best friend, it’s only right for me to reach out & help educate those on not only mental health but on how important it is to seek help if you’re feeling sad or depressed. Please know that you’re not alone & yes resources are hard to access but they’re there.
