I’m raising funds to offset the financial burdens that Robert Vanzant Sr is experiencing due to a major medical issue. He was my son Tyler’s main caregiver for many years and assisted me during my own 2019 cancer journey, exactly 2 years ago. I’m returning the blessing.

In September 2021, Robert began experiencing an excruciating pain in his thigh. Due to the severity of the pain he went to his local emergency room. He was immediately hospitalized. During his week and a half stay in the hospital, Robert had to undergo extensive medical testing and pain management while the many specialists he saw determined his medical issue. While hospitalized, doctors discovered and repaired a hole in his lung but this unfortunately wasn’t the cause of the thigh pain. He was ultimately diagnosed with Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS). A very rare cancer without a cure.

Robert received news of his very rare cancer days prior to his 32nd birthday. He now has the fear if he will be here to see his 33rd. As a father of three, his main concern is the impact of his illness on his children. Especially, his 11year old who continues to struggle with the loss of his mother to lupus last year. 

Robert is a main provider for his children and typically works two jobs to care for his family, however there are days he is unable to do so due to the severity of his pain and cancer treatments. He has the heart to continue working however his body is working against him. Unfortunately, battling cancer is a huge undertaking and a very precarious battle. Especially with such a rare and incurable cancer as ASPS. As a cancer survivor, I know his journey is going to be difficult mentally, physically and financially. Most importantly, it’s only just beginning. 

Robert’s hopes are to be optimistic and most importantly be present with his children during this difficult journey. 

Robert needs your financial assistance and prayers so that he can focus on fighting his cancer, receiving his treatments and sharing special moments with his children. He hopes to give them quality time with their father and make memories that he may be able to share with them in the future. 

 

Robert is fighting for his life and a future with his children. However, he cannot do it alone. He needs support mentally, physically and financially. I hope you are able to help me give Robert the prayers and financial support that he needs to decrease his financial stress, stay strong and fight ASPS.
