Robert Streacker Stroke Recovery

Hello, my name is Noel Streacker. This is my family,
I am Robert Streackers third son. on January 30th my father experienced a severe Ischemic Stroke alone in his apartment. He was unconscious and alone on his bathroom floor for up to 10 hours following the stroke. It wasn't until water started flooding the hallways that management entered the apartment to find my father on the bathroom floor. 911 was called and the paramedics arrived shortly after. It was immediately evident my father experienced a stroke and he was taken to Bolingbrook Advent Hospital Emergency Care where they scanned his brain to confirm the stroke and transferred him to UChicago Hospital to better care for the severity of the stroke. He was admitted into the ICU at UChicago on January 30th. Unfortunately, my family was not notified until January 31st at around 2 pm because they could not find any emergency contacts for my father. I quickly secured a babysitter for my daughter and rushed over to UChicago to see my dad in person and help with his admission.
My father was diagnosed with a severe ischemic stroke that affected almost the entirety of the left hemisphere of his brain. he also has severe global aphasia that has drastically hindered his ability to communicate and understand. After 2 days in the ICU, he was transferred to a regular care unit where they continued to monitor him and plan his rehab journey. Some extra complications appeared because my father has been on Coumadin, a blood thinner, since his second open heart surgery in 2012. The stroke had made his blood vessels and arteries in and around his brain vulnerable to bleeding, so putting him on any sort of strong blood thinner would've risked a severe brain bleed. it wasn't until February 8th, after multiple CT scans of his brain, that doctors decided he was stable enough to start blood thinners.
My father was discharged on February 11th to Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital to start his long recovery and rehab process. If you have ever had someone in your life experience a stroke, you know how terrifying this has been for everyone close to him. there is no certainty about how much he will recover in the coming months and years, but we remain optimistic about his recovery. Naturally, all of this fear, trauma, recovery, and rehab come with a large price tag. My father was fully independent and working full time before this stroke, so he is able to receive Short Term Disability via his employer, but he will only receive 60% of his income bi-weekly. I have gone through his financials, and we will be short $1,200 every month for the foreseeable future.
Now we know $1,200 every month for a year does not add up to $73,500, but we've accounted for more than just his monthly expenses.
His medical debt is currently at $20,000.
Offsetting the dip in income my family has and will experience taking care of him, estimated around $15,000.
We are planning to accommodate the need for 24hr live-in care for 2 months, which would be about $15,000 each month.
If there is any left over, we are planning to utilize it as a means to cover airfare for my brothers as we take turns caring for him, and to have as extra for all of the surprise bills that will pop up.
Even if you don't feel like you can help support us financially, your thoughts, prayers, empathy, and time are greatly appreciated. Please share this with one other person in your network. Thank you for your time, prayers, and support.
