Little did we know that on July 14th, our friend, Robert Russ, would go to the hospital and wake up the next day, missing a good portion of the soft tissue of the right side of his pelvis. An infection, necrotizing fasciitis, had been brewing for almost two weeks. The surgery to remove the disease and to salvage what good tissues were left created much havoc on Robert, causing his organs to shut down and sepsis to set in. He was placed on a ventilator, put on dialysis, was given medicines to paralyze his body so he wouldn’t try to fight the measures that were saving his life. If you know Robert, you know he isn’t going down without a fight. Every day he has shown signs of improvement. He came off the ventilator, then came off dialysis, and his body started fighting back, fighting to get well again. Today, Robert is doing great! He’s made it to Select Specialty Care Hospital in Tallahassee, where he’ll start wound care and physical therapy, and doctors will decide if further surgeries are needed to mend his wound.

As you probably know, Robert owns and operates a food trailer in Crawfordville, the Mill House. He was killing it, selling some of the best sandwiches and fresh-cut fries in the area.
