Robert Rodriguez & Lydia Mendoza

Donation protected

Just as so many of you have been affected by Covid this past year, we too have unfortunately had to battle this terrible virus in our own family the last few weeks. On January 10th we lost our Grandma Lydia Mendoza and on January 18th we lost Robert Rodriguez, the patriarch of the Rodriguez family.

If you knew Robert you knew how truly kind hearted and full of life he was. He LOVED life. He made you feel like family and always greeted you with the biggest smile and open arms anytime he saw you. His life was his family. He LOVED being a husband, a dad, a grandpa, an uncle, and a coach. His second passion in life was baseball. For many years he coached The West Covina Phantoms, a local baseball team he started. He touched the lives of many young men and not only taught them how to play the game of baseball, but he taught them about life. He was there if they ever needed advice or someone to talk to. He was a role model and father figure to many. He loved his community so much and loved giving back to the city of West Covina in any way he could. Robert was most content spending time with those he loved while watching a Dodger, Laker or UCLA game and this is how we will remember him. We know he had so much more life to live but for whatever reason God thought it was his time to go home. We know he will be watching over us and be a guardian angel for his grandchildren Aiden and Lanaya.

Grandma Lydia was one of the strongest women we’ve known. A single mom with two kids, she immigrated from El Salvador to the US to provide a better life for her children. She worked hard for many years and when little Robert was born she retired to take care of him. She created a world for Rob without boundaries or limitations and allowed him to be himself. She was blessed with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren whom she loved so much all in individuals ways.

We know this has been an exceedingly difficult time emotionally, physically, and financially for you all. As you can imagine planning for not only one but two services is something we as a family were not prepared for. If you can donate anything to the Rodriguez family at this time it would mean the world to us. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your outpouring of prayers and condolences. We cannot express what your support means to us all.
-Connie, Rob and Gabby Rodriguez
