Robert Redford (the Berner)’s Medical Expenses

Thank you all so much for donating and sharing this gofundme for Robert Redford and his mom, Chris. We appreciated all of you and wanted to give you an update on RR’s health. After undergoing two separate x-rays, his vets suspected histiocytic sarcoma, as all his clinical symptoms mirrored those of that awful disease. In order to confirm this suspected diagnosis, a third vet recommended a full body CT scan, which he underwent last Tuesday. At the end of last week, Chris received the call from her vet, and to her (and her vet’s) surprise, Redford thankfully does not have cancer!! We couldn’t be happier for them!!! 

It turns out that Redford has septis in his left elbow. Thankfully this is fully treatable and Redford will be back to his normal self in a few short weeks! The condition was never raised as a possibility by his vets, again because his symptoms mimicked those associated with cancer. Redford is now on antibiotics for four weeks to ensure the infections clears. 

In total, Redford’s diagnostic testing and medical cost over $5,000. Your donations and support has helped tremendously in lessening the burden of these costs. We are going to continue to keep this fundraiser open to assist in lowering the remainder of the costs that Chris has to pay out of pocket. We are fundraising to help Robert Redford and his mom, Chris, cover the cost of medical expenses associated with a recent leg injury.  Redford is the ultimate gentleman and truly the sweetest boy you will ever meet.  His mom Chris has also been dealing with medical issues for the past few years so this is coming at a horrible time for them both.  We love him and his mom so much, and they are such a core part of our Berner group.    

Redford recently sustained a leg injury, and doctors are trying to figure out what exactly is going on.  He has already undergone two sets of x-rays with no definitive answers.  Unfortunately, doctors suspect that his pain/injury may potentially be a symptom of the ugly C word, cancer, and have recommended a CT scan to get a definitive picture.  As all of us pet parents know, these examinations are very costly, and unfortunately due to certain circumstances, Redford does not currently have insurance to cover these rising medical expenses while we figure out what is wrong with him.
