Robert Overman Support Fund

Hello,

My name is Kelly Bangs and my sister Myla Hollowell's fiance, Robert Overman, has just been given some devastating and uncertain news. On Aug 12th Rob went to the ER with severe abdominal pain which started two weeks ago, but now had become unbearable.

They did an ultrasound that showed masses in the liver and gallbladder. They admitted him for more testing including a CT and MRI. All of that confirmed a large mass in the gallbladder that appears to have spread to the bile duct, liver and surrounding lymph nodes. They did a scope, took biopsies and now are awaiting the results. All doctors that have weighed in are considering this metastatic gallbladder cancer.
Oncology saw him in the hospital and wants to get a PET scan asap to see if it has spread to anywhere else in his body. Based on that and the biopsy results, will give an official diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan.
However, Rob recently switched jobs and had to obtain personal health insurance, and coverage is not effective until 9/1. This is making it difficult to get timely care, and it's unclear if/when he can even get the extremely expensive PET scan, not to mention the hospital/doctor bills that have already started to quickly accumulate.
They were able to switch over all his IV pain meds to oral and a patch and Rob was discharged from the hospital today. His focus is on pain management and making sure he is eating and drinking, since he has already lost 40lbs. Given that he will be on a substantial amount of pain medicine and back and forth for diagnostics and treatment, the doctors have told Rob that he will be unable to work for the foreseeable future, and unclear if he will be able to drive his own truck.

Both Myla and Rob together have a blended family of 4 kids, Abby 14, Mckenna 14, Cody 10 and Emma 7. Abby and McKenna just started their freshman year at Carl Sandburg HS on Friday and are both in cheerleading. And Cody and Emma are not far behind.

Rob, Myla and the kids have a challenging time ahead of them. They are unsure of the extent and length of treatment, but taking it all day by day. As you can imagine, making phone calls to doctors, insurance companies, etc is a full time job, but Myla is doing her best. I'm asking for your support not only for lost wages while Rob seeks treatment, but for the community and friendship support I know it will take for their family to be lifted up and supported during this difficult time.
