It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the unexpected passing of our dear, Robert Lee Laguna.
Robert was an accomplished trumpet player who traveled the world following his dreams of performing live music with fellow musicians.
In January, Robert was at a recording studio putting together his very own salsa album, when he took a fall which resulted in traumatic brain injury, which caused him to slip into a coma.
From January to April, Robert remained in a coma at the hospital. At the beginning of April, Robert finally woke up! Our family felt hopeful as he was physically responding to us, and using facial expressions to communicate (he could not speak due to a trachea tube in his throat).
Unfortunately, his condition began to decline a few weeks after, and ultimately his body succumbed to his injuries.
Robert worked hard throughout his life as a plumber and jack of all trades.
Most of his money went into following his passions as a musician. As many of his fellows musicians know, this life can be uncertain financially, and unfortunately Robert did not have life insurance and funeral expenses set aside.
We ask that you kindly support our initiative to send Robert off in the style he so deserves. We will be celebrating his life on the day he came into this world, his birthday, Thursday, May 5, 2022.
