Corbett Strong - Robert Corbett
On December 20, 2016 my brother Robert Corbett was in a tragic snowboard accident. C5 fracture with spinal cord injuries leading to paralysis. Robert then came down with pneumonia and had difficulties breathing and talking. During this time his first child was born thanks to his surgeon and his wife whom happened to be an Ob doctor they made arrangements for Soren to be born at UVA the staff was so helpful in making arrangements for Robert to watch the birth of his daughter on his ipad. With his fiance' Tiffany in delivery room with her mom Cindy and Robert in his room in ICU with my mom and dad Tommy and Patty they all got to witness the birth. After the delivery a trache was inserted to help with ventilation.
After 4 days Robert was able to talk to us again through the trache. Every night he has his baby girl on his chest to cuddle with. On January 10th Robert will start his physical therapy with The Shepard Center in Atlanta GA. Robert has the best perspective going into it he is very positive and realistic of what his chances are and believes it will be what he makes of it.
I have no doubt he will teach everyone life lessons through this all.
