Rob's Garden for Animals + Friends

Robert Cowan, age 52, left this world on Sunday May 13, 2018. Living with epilepsy rendered every day unpredictable. We wonder at times, when the morning sun rises in the East, will we see it in the West? For Rob, this uncertainty was ever-present. Despite his handicap, his determination to live an unconstrained life propelled him forward one challenge at a time. “Fall down seven times, get up eight”, was his mantra.
His clearsighted humor at life in these current times was sage and spot on. Rob was a nature lover, a voracious reader and an avid student of life. Unable to drive, Rob spent a lot of time on foot, in his garden, and on the hiking trails at Kennesaw National State Park. When he wasn’t hiking, he was working in his garden or walking the neighborhood with his loyal canine companions by his side. He liked a good walk, anywhere, and anytime. His feet were firmly planted on the land. That is where he felt the most safety.
Rob knew his death might be untimely or premature, and he expressed that he would like to have a special tree planted in his name along with some of his ashes. The plan is to create a unique sanctuary including a mature tree and a possible water feature to enhance the garden that he has been working on for 14 years. He loved his outdoor space and the animals, birds and friends that shared this small piece of land with him. Remembering Rob in the peaceful surroundings of his garden is the best gift we can give to his memory and the loved ones who want to remember him well.
When the world wearies and society fails to satisfy, there is always the garden.

Rob's love and tenderness towards animals will be remembered well, here is a short video when he and Stephanie and Willie went to meet and adopt their youngest four legged son Simon. This was 9 months ago. Since then, Simon has found a happy home playing with his older sister Willie in Rob's woodland garden.
