Bob Aronin Memorial Bench
Donation protected
Update: We have reached our initial goal and we are now putting the paperwork together for the city to approve a bench in Bob's memory. We have increased the fund in hopes of being able to have a memorial service when we are able and make a donation to Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
To borrow another person’s words who said it best....
"They called him The Mayor of Orpheus Dog Park.
Unofficially, of course. And usually only on off-leash hours.
Bob Aronin was a force of nature for a long time. And for those of us here in Encinitas, California (and other parts as well) who got to know the later version of Bob for many years, it is simply shocking to think we won’t ever feel those heartfelt hugs or peer into those impish, spirited eyes again. Many of us just lost a rare and sweet touchstone in our lives.
He was accomplished, yes, but as a person Bob was a full-on mensch. Smart as a whip and with a huge heart of gold. He had fantastic insight seeing who people were. Seeing the best in people. He trained his eye and his heart to see that in folks. Or maybe that’s something one just can’t buy? But if someone as wise and sharp as Bob Aronin could see such value in you, then you must really be valuable! This is what people responded to and were drawn to about him. He helped people believe. In themselves. Because it was the thing to do.
Bob was also a total Dog Guy. Never met a dog he didn’t fall in love with or melt over. My own two dogs loved him tremendously. I watched them give him their full emotional trust, which was not nearly the case most usually. It was the intensity of the heart, his earnestness, that my dogs were responding to. It was without guile. " Stephen Keyes
It is with heartfelt hope that we can raise enough money to dedicate a bench at Orpheus Dog Park in his name, so that we can have a place to sit, remember and reconnect with our much missed friend and family member.
