Melinda was admitted to the ICU on June 25th after a serious fall and kidney infections that left her immobilized and in continuous pain. In addition, a deadly staph infection began to spread throughout her body requiring an emergency surgical procedure. Her recovery is going to be a long journey as she is still unable to walk or even sit up on her own. She is still in a great deal of pain and will also need physical therapy.

The extended hospitalization has also taken a toll on the family’s finances. In addition to the mounting medical expenses they have had to close their small business for an extended period of time to make sure Melinda has the proper care needs right now.
