Help Send Robbie to HOBY WLC

Hi! My name is Robbie Schuhl and I am from Chehsire, Ohio. I currently attened River Valley High School where I am a soon to be junior.  I am currently trying to fundraise enough money to attend the HOBY World Leadership Congress, and I need YOUR help!

Earlier this year, I was selected to be an ambassador for my school at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference of South Ohio (HOBY OHS). HOBY’s flagship program, the State Leadership Seminar (LS) is designed to help high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. It takes place over 4 days every spring at many locations all over the United States, and the world. The HOBY Ohio South Seminar is held at Denison Univerity in Granville, Ohio. This year it took place from May 19th to May 22nd.

Now that I am a HOBY OHS Alumnus, I have the opportunity to represent my district at the HOBY World Leadership Congress this July in Chicago, IL. HOBY WLC is an annual event where 420 HOBY Students from around the world converge for 8 days for an incredible experience. There, ambassadors get to make international friends, and much further develop their leadership skills. 

HOBY OHS was an incredible, life-altering experience for me. I learned that being me is okay. I learned how to be more optimistic and enthusiastic about everything I do. I learned that it's okay to be the "lone nut" that starts a movement. I also made friends from all across Ohio, some of which are now like family to me. But most importantly, I learned how to be a good leader. I don't want my HOBY experince to end here. I want to take it to the next level and attend the HOBY World Leadership congress and learn how to be a great leader.

I want to become a great leader so I can make an impact on this world. One of the things I am really passionate about is Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome. Shwachman–Diamond syndrome (SDS) is a rare congenital disorder characterized by exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, bone marrow dysfunction, skeletal abnormalities, and short stature. I am very passioniate about this because my mother is inflicted with SDS. I want to learn how to be a great leader so I can start up a charity to raise money for finding a more effective cure for SDS. 

Now, the registration fee to attened HOBY WLC is $1,825 for all 8 days.  I have added the gas cost for traveling to and from the conference to the donation goal ($225), and $150 for spending money. The registration deadline is June 30th, 2016, but the sooner I can register with the full amount, the better my chances of getting accepted are.
