Hi, as some of you may or may not know, my name is Katie, and I am Robbie's sister. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting my brother you would know he is one of the nicest, most easy-going fellas around. Robbie is always so full of life and can talk to anyone. He is always there for his friends and family no matter what and truly loves unconditionally. We are siblings so of course we annoy each other pretty regularly, but I know if something happened to me or my family, he would be one of the first ones to show up and offer help/check on us. This is why it pains me so much to have to type this... On March 12th, my brother went into the hospital due to some pain and numbness in his left leg and foot. Turns out there was a blood clot present in one of the arteries in his left leg. The artery is what provides the main blood supply to extremities so it being blocked in his left leg meant it was an urgent matter because his leg was no longer getting the blood supply it should. He was admitted to the hospital to try to resolve this issue and get him back on his feet as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Robbie has sustained multiple complications since being admitted to the hospital. He was previously on the ventilator with a breathing tube in, on dialysis for his kidneys, had to undergo five rounds of plasmapheresis, and he has lost his left leg (above the knee amputation). We had another scare last night and Robbie had to undergo an emergent surgery with now even more life-altering changes as he has lost his colon. Robbie will need to be in the hospital for quite some time still and then once he gets out, he still has a long road of recovery ahead of him with rehab.
I often find myself asking why this happened to Robbie, literally one of the least deserving individuals for this to happen to. However, if there is one person that can bounce back stronger than ever it is Robbie. For the brief time he was off the ventilator, and we got to talk to Robbie despite his circumstances, he again showed me how strong he is. He continues to keep fighting for his family and is determined to be on the other end of this horrible situation. As a result of all of this, Robbie will be out of work for quite some time and as we all know medical bills can rack up rather quickly. Therefore, I am making this Go Fund Me and kindly asking for some donations to help with the medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and to go towards the purchase of a prosthetic leg. I am hoping with this fundraiser we can at least make his recovery a little easier/less stressful on not only him but his wonderful and supportive wife Melissa (who has not left his bedside) and his amazing son Jackson.
