I have been robbed, shot and almost lost my arm.

One cannot imagine things like this happening to one self until it does. And even then it feels surreal and like a bad dream. 


About 3 years ago I was alone in my rental house in Vilcabamba Ecuador when I heard noises in the basement. It was around 8pm and I thought it was the cats playing with something down there. The sounds kept going and I got up to go down check on things. It was dark and suddenly I had a gun to my head by a guy in a black mask. I saw several more masked people with guns and crowbars as well. They got through the window somehow. 

My mind just couldn’t believe what was happening at that moment. 

I was told to go lay down on the floor while they showed me they had guns. One guy pulled out a rope to tie me up and I had the clear message in my mind telling me to get up and away before they tie me up or else they will kill me. This is not uncommon in this country. 

I managed to get up only to be attacked with the crowbar by one of the guys that I luckily managed to get out of his hands and threw it away as I had only one thing in mind. To run for the door. 

The blow did hit my head first and I was half way unconscious with lots of blood pouring out my head. But I knew I had to stay awake to make a run for it….. or die. 

What I didn't know was there was another guy with a gun by the door and as I came running he pulled the trigger pointing straight at me. 

It was a shotgun shooting many lead pellets at a wide area and half the area of my arm got blown away right under my elbow. 
Some pellets landed in my liver area as well. The noise from the shot and me screaming in pain made them decide to run for it. 

I lost a lot of blood and it took me minimum 4 hours hours before I was in any hospital with painkillers in me. Believe me when I say you do not want to experience something like this in your life. Ever. 

The following morning I was in surgery and I woke up with a metal rod drilled into the bone marrow from the elbow up halfway towards my little finger. Ulnar bone was missing about 5 cm plus a lot of tissue. 



I was told in Cuenca the nearby bigger city they could do better surgeries and fix my arm with no problem. I had an online business at that time and savings to spend. So I went there and they scheduled me for surgery only to come back with what turned out to be the worst news ever. The hospital that put the metal rod into my bone marrow was heavily contaminated with 3 different kinds of super bugs. INSIDE the bone marrow. This is the recipe for sepsis which is one of the leading causes of death in hospitals. 

The doctors told me if I didn't go on antibiotics ASAP they would have to amputate my arm. As freaked out as I was from the trauma I decided to listen to them (regretfully). 

I was in full anesthesia every 3 days to get the wound cleaned and scrubbed while on heavy strong expensive antibiotics. Each session was very expensive. Plus daily charges of medicine, hospital bed, suction devices for the inflammation seeping out of the wound non stop. It was a medical and financial nightmare. 

2 months later more traumatized from these "treatments" plus drained of about 100.000 USD their conclusion was there was no cure for the infection and they would have to amputate my arm. 

I suddenly saw my life lived with 1 arm the rest of my life in my minds eye. You would be surprised how much we depend on 2 arms in our daily life once you’re robbed of one of them. 

That was when I realized I needed to take matters into my own hands and figure this out myself. Doctors only know 1 remedy for infection: antibiotics. 

This is not reality and there are tons of other ways to deal with infections I learned. 


Long story short I ended up in Columbia that is much more developed than Ecuador medically speaking. 

There I found a special potent form of Ozone therapy IV invented in Austria combined with Hyperbaric Oxygen sessions every day. I invested my last savings and prayed it would do the trick. 

It did. In less than 1.5 months the infection was gone. With no crazy surgeries and further trauma to the body. 

In the meantime I lost my business and business partner along with all my savings. Had to sell my car and everything of value to get this treatment. But I had my arm still :) And no infection. No amputation. 


My arm is still broken. Bone missing. Half the hand and lower arm is numb due to scar tissue pressing on the nerve. 

I have tried so many alternative methods now to regrow bone with my mind and with natural means. It's not happening. Arm hurts when I move it as the bone is scraping against the tissues in there. I can’t lift anything or use the arm for more than a few minutes before the pain kicks in. 

I spoke to a medical doctor about stem cell therapy as a solution and its success rate for such situations is very high but will take multiple sessions to fix. I was also told the longer I wait the less the chance of healing optimally. So I need to do this as fast as possible. 

I do not have this money and I have never been in a situation like this before. I have always been able to take care of myself on all levels and I’m not used to ask anyone of anything. you could say I got a lot of pride. 

So this is completely new to me and honestly a bit of an uncomfortable learning lesson. Writing this and making a video about it took me a whole week to get done due to my nature. Not easy. 

But I guess there is a first time for everything. Im usually the one on the other side helping people out in need. Never thought I would be the one asking for help. 

I hope you find it possible in you to help with whatever is possible for you and I cannot express my gratitude enough to you if you try help make it a reality for me to recover and be able to use my arm fully again. I was a martial arts practitioner. Loved gardening and lifting weights etc. I miss these things so much. 

The doctor told me this will be possible again with stem cell therapy. It can regrow and heal. Many cases have had success with this. 

I have learned in this process no one can walk through life all on their own without the helping hand off the "angels in disguise" living all around us.  

Some of us have the heart in the right place.
