Hi, my name is Susan Russell, and I’m fundraising for my brother, Rob Wright, who recently suffered a major medical event that has significantly impacted his health and ability to work.

In May 2025, my brother Rob Wright started feeling off—like he had a stomach bug that just wouldn’t go away. He was having trouble keeping food down and felt more tired than usual. But Rob being Rob, he kept working through it. He’s a self-employed contractor and the owner of Rob Wright Building LLC, so taking time off isn’t really an option—if he doesn’t work, he doesn’t get paid.

He went to the doctor a couple of times, but nothing was found. In early August, they tested him for Lyme Disease and started him on antibiotics just in case. He began to feel a little better, but once the antibiotics ended, the symptoms came back. Still, Rob kept pushing through the exhaustion and stomach pain, working every day until September 5.

On the night of September 4, Rob was in so much pain he couldn’t sleep. He tried lying in bed, sitting in a chair—nothing helped. He felt like he couldn’t catch his breath. In true Rob fashion, not wanting to bother anyone, he drove himself to the emergency room at the VA Hospital in White River Junction in the early morning hours.
After more than six hours in the ER, Rob was admitted to the ICU. He’s been diagnosed with necrotizing pancreatitis, a serious and painful condition. He also has three blood clots in his lungs, has developed AFib, and has fluid in his lungs.

Thankfully, because Rob is a veteran receiving care through the VA, his medical expenses are covered. But what isn’t covered is the loss of income. Rob’s recovery will take months, and during that time, he won’t be able to work. This fundraiser is to help Rob support himself while he heals—to cover basic living expenses like food, housing, and utilities until he’s strong enough to get back to doing what he loves.

If you know Rob, you know how hard he’s worked his whole life. He’s never been one to ask for help, but right now, he needs it. Any donation—no matter the amount—will help ease the burden and give Rob the time he needs to recover fully.

I’ve opened an account in Rob’s name to manage the funds received for his recovery. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and support.
