Rob & Lucy
Donation protected
Rob + Lucy is an animated short that asks the question: what does love look like when you’re the last human on earth?
If you've found yourself mulling over this question in the dystopian sci-fi landscape of your imagination, WE ARE THE SAME PERSON. If not, the fact that you're even here reading this means a lot - this story doesn't get told without your help. So, if you choose to donate and leave your name, you’ll be credited in the film.
More on the story:
A future world adjacent to ours.
A woman - Lucy - and her robot - Rob.
Trapped on a plateau high above a canyon obscured in darkness.
Above that shadow-line, their home and a quiet life. Below, hell.
When the sun sets each night, hell awakens and Rob must hold back the twisted remnants of humankind on their hunt for Lucy.
As the pile of corpses creeps higher, the hoard gets closer to the plateau’s edge and our characters face what could be their end.
This story was born out of a writers group with some of my favorite Los Angelinos (and a Canadian) who I met through UCB. The isolation and all-around weirdness of the pandemic had me contemplating ~the end times~ and mulling all the different forms love took in our lives (as you can tell, I was doing great). I wondered how a human might love, or where they would place the love innate in all of us if they were the last one left... and lived under constant threat of death.
Currently, we’re in the early stages of animation and won't have sound, music, or heads for our main characters without your aid. Stay tuned for updates!
Our plan is to circulate this film at festivals and use it as means to get funding for a feature version. I cannot possibly thank you enough for helping to make this film a reality!
