Rob Keough needs our help!

We are starting this on behalf of our dear friend Rob Keough (who would absolutely hate that we are doing this) to try and bring some measure of financial relief to him and his fiancé Lisa, who have been quietly dealing with a medical hurricane for years now.
The worst of this medical storm hit last week when a brain infection led to Rob having two seizures and requiring emergency brain surgery. Brain infections are surprisingly common but extremely dangerous. Treatment, surgery and rehabilitation are incredibly expensive.
Rob will require months of intense care, and further surgery may be needed. It was especially hard for the doctors to diagnose and treat Rob’s illness because he’s been struggling with respiratory issues.
He dealt with a sudden and extremely debilitating illness in early 2020 from which he has yet to fully recover. A few months ago it was determined that his lung had been partially collapsed since then, in addition to fluid and scar tissue and other factors affecting his breathing. Doctors were already planning a surgery to address his respiratory problems when he had the seizures. It took a while for them to determine the lung trouble was, in their words, “a red herring.” Everything he went through with his lung was most likely unrelated to the brain infection. And now he has another journey ahead, a longer and scarier road to become healthy again.
Anyone who knows Rob knows what a special person he is. He genuinely cares about people, he has a laugh that makes everyone else laugh, and he’s fiercely loyal to the people he loves. Rob is a longtime resident of Medford, and many of you may have seen how passionate he is about his interests — from sports to music to history to reading and more. Rob has a long road ahead of him to heal and rehabilitate.
Anything you can give to alleviate financial stresses, so he can fully concentrate on the important work of getting better, is greatly appreciated.
