Rob & Jen could use some support.

We are trying to help a colleague's partner as he waits for an appointment with a Neurologist next month. Rob was diagnosed with a rare condition called Chiara which took years to diagnose. A Chiari malformation is a problem in which a part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spinal canal. This puts pressure on parts of the brain and spinal cord and tremendously throws off his balance. And although things went reasonably well after the diagnosis, in August 2022, to add more to an already full plate, he had an unsuccessful surgery that has left him also dealing with a bilateral semi circular canal dehiscence- basically an open wound. He is still, in 2024, waiting for corrective surgery for that. Dealing with everything then, left them almost bankrupt. After a recent fall, Rob was admitted to Bowmanville Hospital. He had a subsequent fall while in the hospital and even though he was in the critical care unit, after one day, a doctor released him stating there is nothing further that can be done until his consultation with the specialist. The current medication for pain management that has been prescribed for Rob however, is not working leaving him in severe pain. Rob has a long awaited appointment in April with a Neurologist in Toronto. His partner Jen is now the sole care giver and breadwinner. Basic medical supplies are required to get through this trying time. A seat for the bath tub for showering, safety bars/handles to safely enter and exit the bath and safety bars/handles to assist getting in and out of bed. And that is just for starters. Time off work will be required leaving them with no income coming in. We are asking those who can help this couple to please make a donation so that they can get through this "crisis" before another fall worsens the situation.
