Anyone who has met Rob Hebrank knows he genuinely is one of the best people you could ever meet. He has dedicated his life to helping others as a volunteer firefighter for the West Caldwell Fire Department for over 25 years. He is a devoted son/brother/husband/uncle/assistant chief/teammate/friend (and so much more one could not even list) and all the while has found time to run his own business and help the family business. If you’ve met Rob, there is no doubt you had a great conversation full of laughs and support. Even if just meeting him for the first time, he's the type of person that you feel like you've known for years.
In June, Rob was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma, a form of testicular cancer which has spread to multiple other organs in his body. This is an extremely rare form of cancer in an aggressive state and will take many months of chemotherapy and possibly other treatments to beat. Rob’s initial care was completed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, and he has been moved to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. His treatment begins with multiple cycles of multiple days of chemo followed by rest time in the hospital and at home. This treatment will come at a price and help is needed. Rob has always been the most optimistic and welcoming person, so support from his family, friends and all future friends is going to be a huge part of this chapter of his life. His optimism is contagious and unmatched, even spreading throughout the St. Joseph’s oncology floor while he was being diagnosed.
Rob has gone far out of his way to help others on countless occasions without being asked or asking anything in return. Now is the time for us to give back in the enthusiastic and positive way that Rob has shown us for so many years!
Financial support will go toward medical bills for Rob’s treatment, specialized care, supplies, transportation and other expenses related to his illness and treatment. Rob’s closest support is his wife, Melissa; she will be by his side the entire time. Lucky for Rob (and not surprisingly), Melissa is also a selfless person who holds the same values and attributes as Rob.
Thank you for all of the support; keep Rob and the Hebrank family in your thoughts and prayers.
