Rob was rushed to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA for treatment and was recovering in the ICU for two weeks before recently being moved to Spaulding Rehab in Charlestown, MA. Rob's injuries include a compress fracture of the cervical and upper thoracic area of the spine and he cannot move from the waist down. Rob recently received a tracheotomy to help his breathing and a feeding tube to get the proper nutrients – both are expected to help with the healing process.
It’s heartbreaking to see Rob cooped up in a hospital. He was always an extremely active person -- up before dawn to grab coffee with a friend, and ALWAYS the first person to volunteer to help neighbors and friends with projects around the house.
This accident has had a big impact on Rob and his family (Kathy, Emily, Eric and Kyle). There are a lot of expenses -- hospital stay, medical care, surgeries, medicines, and additional associated costs. In addition, because Rob handled everything around the house - fall clean-up, snow removal, painting, electrical work, etc., Kathy has needed to hire people to help with these efforts.
We, the friends of Rob Hazen, humbly seek your financial help. Your contributions will help Rob and his family in many, many ways.
