Rob Harvie Memorial
Donation protected
In loving memory of Rob Harvie and in support of his family and wife, we have set up this page to show our full support during this devastating time of losing their 28-year-old son Robbie. He meant the entire world to them and his loss has left them empty and broken. This page is being started by friends of the family and we are hoping to raise funds to support Rob's family during this difficult time to cover the steep costs of the funeral and other expenses during Rob's cancer journey.
We hope that the Harvie family will have less financial stress during this very difficult time. If you know the Harvie family, they are some of the most generous and hospitipal people we know. We would love to give back to them like they always do for everyone they meet. Please consider a donation if you can do so. We are so grateful for every donation or just share this post with your family and friends.
If people don't feel comfortable donating through GoFundMe, you can donate by eTransfer to the Harvie Family by sending a message to the organizer (Tori Van Staveren) to receive the Harvie email address [see the contact link at the bottom of the page].
Rob's Story:
Rob was always a humble person with a very strong work ethic, who loved to have fun, make jokes and live life to the fullest. Family has always been the most important thing to Robbie and the Harvie family. He was the first son of Wendy and Jim, the best big brother to Jeff, and grandson/nephew to many wonderful relatives. Rob brought lots of life to his family. He loved playing rugby and hockey, spending time at the cottage, going backcountry camping and joking around, while making lifetime memories with family and friends throughout all of it.
In February 2015, Rob met Cate at a college party and it was love at first sight. From that meeting, the two became inseparable and spent time with family, worked hard and saved up to travel to Ireland and Eastern Europe. Later on, they also got Rob's dream dog, an adorable husky, named Bauer.
Then in June 2015, he was diagnosed with Melanoma. From then, Rob started his long journey of battling cancer with years of treatments, check-ups, medication and diagnostic scans. Throughout these brutal years, his family and friends stood by him strong and supported him through every difficult moment in his fight against cancer. After years of battling the disease, it was discovered that cancer had spread to his brain. Rob fought hard during the following months and life settled into a new normal. Despite the difficulties that the diagnosis posed, Rob never skipped a beat and continued to work hard in his career as a Civil Engineering Technologist and worked full time in the job he loved at Sabourin Kimble & Associates.
In the darkness of his cancer journey, there were also lots of love and good times as well. On September 12, 2021, Rob proposed to his loving girlfriend Cate at the Scarborough Bluffs while out for a walk with their husky Bauer. Then on October 30, 2022, they both said I do at the Guild Inn Estates surrounded by family and friends. Days prior to the wedding, Rob had completed his brain and spine radiation which took a major toll on his body. That day a miracle happened and with the love that surrounded him and Cate, Robbie had one of the best nights of his life. He had the biggest smile on his face and his dream came true to marry Cate in the way he always wanted, with the best motherfrickin' party!! It was one of the best nights of his life! He became the amazing husband to Cate and son-in-law to Dalyce, Garth and Dorothy.
Rob continued to live his life to the fullest despite his diagnosis and never let it hinder his outlook on life. Rather, it ignited his passion and determination for living, working and setting goals for his future. In August 2022, Rob received more news that his Leptomengial disease had spread from the fluid of his brain down into the fluid of his spine. That was followed by 2 more rounds of brain radiation and Immunotherapy. Through it all, Rob remained strong and continued to dream of plans for his future.
After the diagnosis, Rob's family Wendy, Jim, Cate and Jeff all stepped back from their careers so that they could be by Rob's side around the clock. Missing time at work has made for a significant loss of wages. They have had to pay for countless tanks of gas and parking fees, just to be with their son at the hospital. They paid thousands of dollars to make Rob and Cate's dream come true with a gorgeous wedding with family and friends. They have had to pay medication fees that helped to extend the quality of Rob's life over the years.
On Christmas Day 2022, Rob passed in his and Cate's home, with Cate, Wendy, Jim, Jeff, Tori and his palliative nurse Cassandra surrounding him with unconditional love and caring for him until the end. This is a devastating loss of life and love, especially on Christmas Day. Rob was an incredible person and will live on through all his loved ones. He will be tremendously missed every day by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The Harvie family will never be the same without their beloved Robbie.
Again, we hope to help the Harvie family have less financial stress during this very difficult time. Please consider a donation if you can do so. We are so grateful for every donation or just share this post with your family and friends.
