Many of you already know Rob Cohen, and many have kindly helped him in recent months. He has been struggling to get by, and has thanks to the help of some of you and others. What he hasn't done very well is look ahead at his bills when asking for help so he doesn't get right back into the same situation. I've started helping Rob get more organized so it doesn't continue to happen, from what he tells his memory isn't as good as it was before his strokes. He does get confused at times but it's easy to get him back on track.
Rob has done so many different jobs, I'm amazed. He worked as long as he could. Many of you I know through stories, no matter where he worked he always enjoyed it. It seems Rob really enjoyed being able to stand up in every ambulance he ever worked on.
Rob has allowed me to share some of what is going on. Some of what he suffers from are Congestive Heart Failue, extreme High Blood Pressure controlled with a lot of medicine, (very old) heart blockages (that until now involved too much risk) Rob will now need to go through months of Cardiac Rehab, Migraines, Strokes, Kidney Stones, a recent bout with renovascular hypertension that was causing his lungs to fill up from his Congestive Heart Failure. He needed the renal stent for that. He falls a lot even with the use of his cane or walker but says he learned how to fall in Aikido. Since Rob is taking Plavix, he bleeds a lot. The areas of skin where his psoriasis is bleed often even when there is no fall involved. Both depression and anxiety affect Rob constantly, but he is addressing his Mental Health needs. I make sure he gets out for more than just medical appointments too, we just make short trips so he doesn't get worn out and grumpy.
Rob needs help with rent, utilities, food and medicine not covered by insurance. He also needs to get his mobile home taxes current. This fundraiser will cover Rob's expenses until the end of January. If you can make a donation and want it kept confidential, as the administrator of this fundraiser, I will. I will run this fundraiser until we meet the goal of @5000.00, which should take care of him until his disability hearing. If you have any questions please contact Rob or myself, Steven Harris.
