Robert Clay Carpenter, 55, died suddenly on Sunday, December 15th. He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, and his five children, Brandon, Bryce, Brielle, Samantha and Courtney. He is also survived by his parents, Elvin and Jeanette Carpenter and his siblings, Chris, Kelly, Steve and myself, Dawn. Rob loved the Lord with all his heart and loved his family beyond measure.
My brother loved cars, boating, skiing and playing the drums. Rob has played the drums for 39 years and most recently for his church praise team the past 19 years. Growing up with Rob meant you had to learn how to communicate with the sound of base drums and cymbals blaring in the background! He loved the drums and dedicated his talent to the Lord.
Rob was also one of those people who loved athletics and was good at every activity he tried. Water skiing and boating were some of his favorite past times. He loved his family summer vacations where he could spend time on his boat with his family. I remember more than once over the years screaming at him to stop flinging me from side to side while trying to learn to ski while he drove the boat! He was a teaser and had the best sense of humor and I think I will miss that the most.
If I had to choose one thing that defined Rob, however, it would be his love for his children. Over the past few years I've noticed time and time again how with every post from one of his children on Facebook you'd find a reply by Rob saying, "I'm so proud of you, Sweetheart." He loved his children and wasn't afraid to say so whenever he had the chance.
My four children wanted to help in some way and being millennials they took to the internet to create this space where they, as well as others that loved and respected Rob, could honor him and his family in some tangible way. As with any premature death there comes outstanding bills and unplanned for expenses and they’d like to help his family reconcile those in Rob's absence. Any amount is appreciated and please know that all donations will go directly to the family.
One day we will see Rob again, but for now, I know the Lord welcomed him with open arms saying, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant."
Thank you all so much for your support of Jennifer and their children.
