Robert "Rob" Edward Fredenberg, Jr., aged 61, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, after a yearlong battle of cancer. Born on December 21, 1962, he was the youngest son of the late Alice and Bob Fredenberg. Rob's life was a reflection of his deep faith and commitment to his family and community.
Rob attended William Chrisman High School, Graceland College, Central Missouri State University, and the Kansas City Art Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration. He worked for Innerspace Storage for 28 years and part time for the Kansas City Royals for 9 years.
A long-standing member of The Gathering Baptist Church, Rob's commitment to his faith was evident in all aspects of his life. He used his art skills in service to his church community. An Eagle Scout, he continued to serve Scouting as an adult leader and enjoyed mentoring the youth. Hi all! Rob's update:
Since I last updated you, Rob completed his last Retuximab therapy, and has continued to gain weight. He saw his Oncologist today, and had lab work. His hemoglobin is now 13.4, and within normal limits, along with many other labs stabilizing!!! Praise God for answered prayers!!! Rob gained up to 26 lbs and is now 23 lbs, and the doctor said it could be some water weight, but he looks and feels so much better! He is tapering off the steroids and will be done in 9 days. It's been such a blessing to see him have energy again, but now that he's almost done with the steroids he's started having some pain again. He will start immunotherapy on Tuesday, January 2nd. The plan is to continue two more immunotherapy treatments (3 weeks apart) and then do a CT scan to see if the cancer has shrunk enough for surgery. That will be around the end of February.
We had a wonderful Christmas with our family! We pray you did as well, and pray for a blessed new year for all!
We are eternally grateful for your continued prayers. The Lord has been so good and faithful to us! We praise him for all he has done for Rob and our family, and for all your faithful prayers!
Please continue to pray for:
•Rob to continue to improve and feel well despite coming off steroids and continuing therapy.
•The cancer will continue to shrink, and he will remain medically stable.
•I'm headed back to work this Tuesday, and pray I don't worry about Rob, and can focus on my work.
•Praise that Ed (Rob's brother), and Candy (my sister) are available to step in and help when I'm not able.
Love to all!! ❤️
Original post:
This is Candy Roberts. Heather Fredenberg is my sister. Her husband Rob has just been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, stage 4. He has been aggressively trying for 9 months to get to the bottom of the health problems that he’s been having. This week on September 20, they finally have got an answer. He will have some upcoming procedures beginning Sunday followed by surgery on Tuesday, September 26th. It is a lot to take in but they are relieved to finally know what it is and have a plan to proceed.
One of my life mottos is “live with no regrets!” So that she has no regrets, I have encouraged my sister to stay by Rob’s side and take advantage of the FMLA (family medical leave act) that she has requested. They don’t feel like they have the financial resources to do that with the thousands of dollars have already been spent on medical co-pays and many unknowns heading their way. They are in need of approximately $2,000 a month.
There is lots of good news. The Doctor has been very encouraging, Rob and Heather are people of faith that love the Lord and are trusting in him as well as everyone I’ve run in to has asked “how can I help?” To answer the last question, two dear friends convinced me that we should set up this Go-Fund-Me to help with their myriad of expenses as well as just encouraging people that we love.
If you’re not comfortable donating online contact me and I can get it to them.
My Prayer - With faith in my heart, I declare Your promises over Rob’s health and Rob and Heather’s finances and all those that are affected by Rob’s diagnosis. They are blessed because they love You and seek You and your will above all else. I know that as they put You first in everything, all other things, including health and finances, will be added unto you. In Jesus name, Amen.
Sincerely,
Candy Roberts
