Rob and Corrine's New Start after a Fire

Donation protected
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, there was a catastrophic fire in central Killeen that destroyed multiple buildings and burned for days due to high winds. Some of the buildings that were impacted included the Scobey Moving and Storage facility, which housed the belongings of hundreds of military families that were mid-move. Rob and I had our household belongings in this building, and we were notified on Friday, March 7th, that our goods were deemed a total loss.

As our overly-wise 16 y/o stated, “it’s still just ‘stuff’, but it’s years of memories and collected pieces of life” that have been lost.

We will be submitting a claim for our lost belongings, but were informed this morning that the military will not be handling the claim, since Rob has retired. We will need to work through the moving company for our claim, but we haven't been notified of the loss by the company yet. We are unsure how long this will take, and will be moving into our new home this weekend.

We are starting completely over. With the move into our new home, our resources are strained. Any help from our family and friends is so appreciated.
