Hi All,
As some of you are aware, Rob has not been home since March 18, 2018 when he collapsed at home. His diabetes and COPD had gotten the better of him. His body gave up.
Rob had been under a doctors care right along, a visit at least once a month. I knew things weren't good. Rob was brought to Putnam Hospital ER in February for an ulcerated wound on his foot, they sent him home. Told him to go to the Wound Care Center which we did.
When Rob collapsed on at 11:30 PM on March 18, I was sleeping. I had a dream I had to call 911. I woke up and found him on the floor. (Yes, God woke me up, I know that.)
Since then he spent 2 1/2 months at Vassar Hospital. I know they did what they could for him there, but they could only do so much. Rob needed arterial bypass surgery in his leg. The doctors there did not think he would survive it. Never did they tell us to seek another opinion, that they could not provide the care he needed. Instead the Palliative Support Team told me my husband would never come home. That he would die and I should just consider comfort care. We were devastated.
God came through to us again in the form of a family member who suggested we seek the opinion of a doctor in Westchester. We had to jump through hoops to get Rob's records to this doctor. My sister in law had to actually hand deliver a disc to him.
Rob was transported to Westchester Medical Center and under the care of an outstanding vascular surgeon, the bypass surgery was performed. Rob also had half his right foot amputated.
Rob is now at Wingate Rehabilitation Center. The outlook is good. He looks and feels better than he has in a long time. We are eternally grateful for the support and prayers of our friends and family and to the doctor who didn't give up on him.
Now comes the time that we are facing insurmountable medical bills. We will also need to acquire some medical equipment to assist us at home as well as make some modifications to our home.
We hate to have to ask for help, but the time has come to swallow our pride and reach out to anyone who can afford a donation. We are thankful for the grace of God in our lives, how He has been here for us all along and walked alongside us through this time in our lives.
So with this Go Fund Me (Us) page, we respectfully request any help you can give. We will certainly pay it forward when we are able.
God Bless us all.
Thank you.
