I would like to introduce you to my dear friend, Steve Becker, who is battling stage 4 metastasized melanoma. Steve is a good Christian man and a loving person who puts God first. He has always been ready and willing to help others in need. He is a father of two hard-working independent young men and grandfather to two precious grandchildren. He is an entrepreneur, consultant, and part-time school bus driver.
Two years ago he had a malignant mole removed from his back, which was discovered to be stage 2a melanoma. Unfortunately, Steve was referred to an oncologist who wasted two precious years by doing little to stay on top of the melanoma. During these two years, he developed a chronic cough, which didn't go away. Kelly, my life long friend, and who is Steve’s wife, urged him to go to the emergency room to seek help. Again, Steve was told it was allergies. His chronic coughing, shortness of breath, and fatigue continued to get worse. In frustration, Steve returned to the oncologist demanding something to be done. After a Cat scan and Pet scan, he found out that his stage 2a melanoma had developed into stage 4 metastasized melanoma. Unfortunately, the blood tests that were conducted by the oncologist for two years didn’t detect melanoma.
Devastated with the results Steve reached out to the surgeon who originally removed his stage 2a melanoma. Touched by his story, the surgeon made a call to get Steve into the Melanoma and Skin Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas immediately. After a grueling battery of tests, his new oncologist decided upon an aggressive line of treatment, including Radiation Treatment, Immunotherapy, Cardiopulmonary Treatment, Targeted Therapy and Gamma Knife Radiation Surgery.
Since November Steve and Kelly have been traveling back and forth from Tulsa to Houston once or twice a month. Sometimes they stayed for weeks at a time. All contributions are greatly appreciated to help alleviate the financial burden of medical bills, travel experiences, hotels and meals, which they are experiencing now.
There is no donation too small. If you are unable to donate, I ask that you keep Steve in your prays.
God bless you, Donna
