#RoadtoRecovery 15k Run Jamie Nieto
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
I have signed up for the HOT CHOCOLATE 15K again! This year I've decided to raise funds instead of just running to give myself a challenge. My goal is to have 100 people to donate $15.00 by February 5.
I am raising money for my friend and former training partner Jamie Nieto. Jamie and I met in San Diego in 2000 while we were both training as elite Track and Field athletes. He's a high jumper, I'm a hurdler. We trained and travelled together on our quest to becoming Olympians.
For those who may not know, Jamie is a two-time Olympian and four-time USA Champion in the high jump. He's an amazing athlete, however my favorite thing about Jamie is his heart! He is the most open, genuine, kind, caring and determined person I know.
In April 2016, while at practice, he suffered spinal cord injuries which caused him to become paralyzed from the neck down. Instead of asking "How did this happen to me?" Jamie said "How am I going to overcome this?"
Jamie's determination during his recovery is inspiring the world. As a friend, I wanted to do more than share his progress and be inspired by him. I want to help raise money to help with his continuing medical expenses during his recovery.
For months Jamie has been in physical therapy 4+ times a week and he is training as if he is preparing for the next Olympic Games. This time, the Olympics is his life.
So, as a former hurdler turned distance runner, I am going to run this 15K ( 9.3 miles) again. Believe me, it is a major challenge. But is does not compare to the challenge Jamie is facing. This time every step I take, I will take it for Jamie.
My goal is to have 100 people to donate $15.00 by February 5.
Every dollar raised will help with medical bills and allow Jamie to focus his energy walking again!!
Spread the word and lets raise some money!
