Road to Dresden: A Second Chance at Gold

My name is Louise Prashad, and this August, I have the privilege of representing Team GB at the World Transplant Games in Dresden, Germany.

Ten years ago, I wasn’t expected to survive.
A rare pregnancy complication stole my twin Mia & Leo and left me in a coma with acute liver failure. Only a last-minute liver transplant saved my life. When I woke up, I made a silent promise to my donor, my family, and myself: this second chance will mean something.

Now, a decade later, I’m alive, I’m thriving — and I’ve earned a place on the world stage, competing in shot put, javelin, discus, long jump and the 200m sprint. I'm training with everything I’ve got, not just to win medals — but to celebrate life, honour my donor, and inspire others to believe in what’s possible after loss and trauma.

But here’s the truth:
There is no central funding for transplant athletes.
And I can’t afford to get to the Games on my own.

What Your Support Will Help Cover:
£600 – Registration

£300 – Official Team GB kit

£1,000 – Flights to Dresden

£1,000 – Accommodation during the Games
Total: £2,900

Every single contribution brings me closer to that start line.
Closer to sharing this story with the world.
Closer to showing that organ donation doesn't just save lives — it rebuilds them.

What I Can Offer in Return:
This isn’t just about asking — it’s about sharing the journey.

If you or your organisation supports this campaign, I’d love to give back by:

Sharing your support across my social media throughout my journey to the Games

Delivering talks at workplaces, schools, or community groups about organ donation, resilience, and recovery

Creating content or interviews about the Games and what it means to compete after a transplant

Offering ongoing visibility and heartfelt gratitude as part of this mission

Whether you're an individual cheering from the sidelines, a small business, or a brand that believes in real impact — I promise to carry your support with pride, all the way to Dresden.

If you’ve ever believed in second chances, in the strength of the human spirit, or in the life-saving gift of organ donation — please stand beside me.

How You Can Help:

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for believing in what’s possible. And thank you for helping me get to the Games — where I’ll give it everything I’ve got.

With love and determination,
Louise Prashad
