Road To The Race (working title) is a 12-part satirical memoir that tears apart fame, identity and the Drag Race machine with razor sharp honesty and cinematic precision. Through humor, confession and psychological depth, James Ross dismantles the narratives that controlled him for over a decade and rebuilds himself in real time.

This series is about reclamation.

It exposes how a crown became a curse, how a persona became a prison and how the world punished James for refusing to stay silent inside it.

Each chapter unpacks a different weapon: rage, humor, shame, intuition, identity, silence, kindness. What begins as a survivor’s story evolves into a strategic takedown of the systems that exploited him and a blueprint for autonomy as a Black queer artist in an industry that demands obedience.

The tone is sleek, dangerous and unapologetically self-aware. It blends satire with psychological realism and antihero storytelling with documentary intimacy. By the finale, James doesn’t return as a humbled figure seeking forgiveness. He rises as a fully realized force: disciplined, intentional, unguided by public opinion and unwavering in his self-mastery.
