Road To The World Transplant Games 2023
Donation protected
My name is Michael (Grey) Brett and I'm a Canadian Transplant Athlete hoping to compete at the World Transplant Games taking place in Perth, Australia in April of 2023. I have competed at 2 previous world games in Malaga, Spain 2017 and Newcastle, England, 2019 where I set a total of 7 world records and represented my deceased organ donor and Canada to the best of my ability.
In 2005 I was diagnosed with an incurable and untreatable auto-immune disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis which resulted in me requiring a lifesaving liver transplant in June of 2015. Since that time I have dedicated a large portion of my life to giving back to the cause that saved mine and being a leader in promoting healthy, active lifestyles for organ transplant recipients.
I am the co-founder and board secretary for www.moveforlifefoundation.com, a key member of the annual #OrganDonorSwim, a partner with the World Transplant Games Federation's initiative titled ReFitForLife, I have spoken about my transplant experience at various high schools and universities and have tried my best to be an engaged leader in the transplant community as a whole and transplant sport specifically.
It is my dream to, once again, represent my organ donor and Canada on the world stage, defend my world records and showcase what a transplant recipient is capable of in his bonus years on the planet.
The money raised will be directly put toward games registration fees, accommodations and flights.
I have been training a lot and competing locally in preparation for the games and I am giving my 100% effort to being in the best possible shape I can be to have the greatest performance of my life. My promise to you is this: I will come back with new world records and gold medals to represent the effort of the team required to make this dream a reality.
Follow my progress and training: @chasing_greytness
Thank You
