The Onondaga Redhawks will represent the First Nations Lacrosse Association at The 2022 Founders Cup on August 15 - 21, 2022, in Brampton, Ontario. They will be competing in Canada's Junior B Box Lacrosse National Championship against the Edmonton Warriors, Saskatchewan SWAT, Brampton Excelsiors, Ontario ( Nepean Knights & Windsor Clippers and British Columbia ( Coquitlam Adanacs & Kamloops Venom)
The Onondaga Redhawks will return after a 7-year hiatus as the only Indigenous team in the tournament, along with a couple of their nonnative teammates.
After two years of no lacrosse due to the global pandemic, the Onondaga Redhawks started their season as the underdogs. Our boys were more than ready to pick up their sticks again and get back in the box. Our bench was stacked with rookies eager to learn and earn their spots on the team and in the league. And for some of our boys, it was their last/senior year as a Jr. b player, and they wanted this season to be their best. This team pushed through against the #1 seed, The Seneca WarChiefs, and battled it out with the Tuscarora Tomahawks and the Tonawanda Braves to finish the regular season 9 -3 and their playoff 4 - 1 to earn their victory.
We hope to raise enough funds / financial assistance to help with the steep financial obligation of attending this tournament. Our goal is to ensure safe travel, lodging, equipment costs, medical costs and any unforeseen financial hurdles that may accrue during their stay in Canada.
Our team will be comprised of Onondaga Redhawks, Tonawanda Braves and Seneca Warchiefs in the true meaning of brotherhood.
