Road to Recovery (Prayers for Jas "Cali" Sellers)

My name is Laura VanDyke-Williams. As many of you know, I drive Uber & Lyft part- time here in Alexandria,La. About 5 days ago I picked up a passenger from a local hospital. When she sat in my car, the energy in the car INSTANTLY shifted my soul. I could tell that something was really troubling her spirit. She asked me to bring her to a local hotel, and proceeded to tell say how grateful she was to be able to shower and sleep in a bed. I could also tell she wasn't from the area by the questions she asked about restaurants nearby, etc. Usually, I don't like to ask anyone personal questions, but by then I was curious. I asked her what brought her here, and her story was the saddest thing I've witnessed in a while. I instantly knew that I had to do something to help.
She told me on September 10, 2019 she received a call in Sacramento, California (where she lives) from a student at Northwestern State University stating that her 22 year old daughter JasJanay "Cali" Sellers (who was a fulltime student living in Natchitoches, pursuing a Nursing degree) was unconscious & not breathing. As you can imagine, this is ANY parents nightmare.
The story she was told is: Jas had a normal day, took a nap, woke up to use the restroom, began to have seizures, ultimately fell unconscious, and then stopped breathing. Jas had no history of seizures or any medical conditions. Jas was in a coma for roughly 26 days. By the grace of God, her eyes are open now. She is still unresponsive, nonverbal, and immobile. Although she is still not her normal self and is still in ICU, God has brought her a long way.
Her mother, who came from Sacramento to be my her side, has been sleeping in the ICU waiting area (with the exception of times when strangers or family members were able & kind enough to get her a hotel room). She is basically homeless here in Alexandria. She also has 4 other children at home (in Sacramento) that she has to provide for and needs to be available to. The hospital wants to place Jas in a local facility for further recovery/rehabilitation treatment. With limited resources & finances, that would leave her mother with a decision NO parent would want to face. She was told by the Red Cross that she isn't eligible for assistance unless her situation is due to a natural disaster. She does not want to leave her child here alone. So, now she is faced with the financial burden of trying to get medical transportation to bring her daughter home (to Sacramento, California), which could cost thousands.
Any donations would be GREATLY appreciated. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL. The funds will be deposited DIRECTLY to her mother. She will use this for food, room/boarding, ridesharing (to and from the hospital if she can get a hotel etc), and MOST IMPORTANTLY to get Jas back home to Sacramento.
Also, any local resources and information that could be beneficial to her situation would be GREATLY appreciated. We exchanged phone numbers and have been in touch daily brainstorming on a resolution for her situation. Feel free to contact us via email at [email redacted]. Thanks for your consideration and May God bless you!
