Road to Recovery for Ms. Becky Howard

We reap what we sow.
I firmly believe that and Becky Howard is a woman who sows kindness, selflessness, and generosity every chance she gets! Becky has worked at CPP for over 20 years. But has worked with children for more than half her life. She has tirelessly served the children and families in our community teaching about sharing, preparing children for Kindergarten, and modeling kindness.

All the while, Becky also shared a home with her aging mother and ended up being her primary caregiver as her mother’s health declined. Sadly, after her mother’s recent passing, Becky was diagnosed with Large B-cell Lymphoma and had to start an emergency chemotherapy. There is currently a large tumor pressing on her arteries, esophagus, heart, and lungs.

There’s been little time to grieve and no time to focus on herself after caregiving for so long. Those who know her gentle spirit and generous heart want to help alleviate some of the financial burden she will be facing. If anyone has a need, Becky is the first one to step up and offer help. If you needed a little help at the end of the month, she offered to help. If your dog needed a surgery, she offered to help. Anything. If it mattered to you, it mattered to her and she was willing to give.
At Christ Presbyterian Preschool, it was the little things that showed she cared. She brought tea if you had a cold. She quietly left a favorite snack where you’d find it to give you a boost. It is in her DNA to give and to share whatever she has.

When asked if we could set this up to help, her first response was that it felt odd and unapproriate since there are so many others out there dealing with cancer alone. It is time for her to receive. She cannot work right now during her cancer treatment and will have to rely on state disability which is only 60-70% of income. She will also have additional medical costs. Her family will need to take time off to help care for her and manage appointments. Our goal is help her and her family with $20,000 so that Becky will not have to spend her limited energy worrying about finances.
Please help us by showing Becky that all of those times she sowed love and kindness through her generosity, she will now reap the benefit through us and hopefully through you. More than anything, we want to give her a season of provision and a season of greater peace during this trying time as she beats cancer!
Remember that you will reap what you sow too!
