On July 27th ,2020 I had to rush my husband John Perez too the hospital due too lost of feeling on his right side of his body. It was a regular day for him going to work , he called me mentioning he had pain around his neck . Just like any other muscle spasm he thought if he stretched it, it would go away. That wasn’t case at all, after stretching it he heard a pop which then lead too a tingling sensation from his right shoulder down to the tips of his fingers. On his way home from work he mentioned too me that the feeling was intensifying, as soon as he made it home we rushed too urgent care. There they said he was fine after a very short visit and wrote a prescription for muscle relaxers & 800 ibuprofen suggesting if it got any worse to come back. (Mind you no X-ray or cat scan was done) We went home to try and get some rest, shortly after he got up too use the restroom and instantly came out and said he had to go the hospital. I knew then at the moment something was seriously wrong because he avoids going to the hospital at all cost. As he came out i noticed he was dragging his right leg, i immediately gave him some support on that side . ( I’ve been a CNA for years thankfully so I knew how to properly assist him) I then took him too the emergency room , at this point he had lost all feeling on his right side. They immediately took him too the back and said he would be admitted . Due to Covid-19 I was unable to enter the building but the nurse reassured me that they would be running test and keep me updated. Within thy hour x-rays were done and I was informed that his 5th , 6th, 7th lumbar vertebrae’s needed too be replaced as soon as possible. By the morning of July 28th he had lost all feeling from the neck down. Surgery took place and after 3 hours of waiting they informed us surgery went better then expected and he is looking to gain all feeling back but of course that comes with a lot of healing time and therapy. On July 29th the only thing he was able to move were the tips of his fingers so with that being said the only suggestion was he needed too go to a rehabilitation center for 2 weeks to relearn how to walk and regain strength. John is the sole provider in our household of 7 so at this time we are asking our family and friends for help for the medical bills .
