Road to Recovery for Brody Kilian
Donation protected
Hello! I’m Kelsey Broussard. I’ve created this fundraiser for my nephew, Brody Garrett Kilian. Brody is the son of my brother and sister in law, Nick and Stephanie Kilian. As most of you have heard by now, Brody was attacked by their family dog on the night of his 1st birthday December 26. The dog bit Brody on the left side of his face (around his eye, cheek, and ear) causing several deep lacerations and bone fractures. Brody was immediately taken by ambulance and admitted to Wesley Medical Center. Brody was prepped for a CT scan in order for doctors to know what all damage was done. That’s where it was discovered poor Brody suffered from a fractured nose, eye socket and cheek bone. Luckily, there wasn’t any facial nerve or muscle damage, his ear canal wasn’t punctured, nor any brain injuries. An on call plastic surgeon did perform surgery late Tuesday evening to patch baby boy back up. Brody was seen by an ophthalmologist for his eye the next day. This specialist decided to operate on Brody’s eye because doc was worried all the pressure from the swelling in the eyelid would cause harm to his eye or optical nerve. Nick and Steph were told the eye itself looked great afterwards. Later in the evening, Brody was up playing in his hospital crib! He’s currently recovering in the pediatric unit enjoying all the purple slushees his little heart desires! The nurses and doctors are hopeful he’ll be home by this weekend!!
Little Brody has had a rough first year at life. On top of this horrific incident, he was hospitalized earlier this summer for a virus that took over his tiny body and landed him in the pediatric unit as mentioned above. His mommy and daddy are still trying to catch up on medical bills from this initial stay 6-7 months ago. And of course with any post op care, there will be weekly and monthly follow up doctors appointments. Nick and Steph do not have any time off due to recent job changes. My brother and his wife are prideful people and would never ask for financial help. They have the kind of hearts that always help others and put themselves last. That’s why I’m putting this together to show them there are countless people who love and support their family. Any amount helps and more appreciated than they’ll ever have the words to express.
Thank you,
-Kelsey
