On what was supposed to be my first day of college, I was involved in a terrible accident that changed everything for me and my family. I was rear-ended by a car going over 50 mph, and my car was smashed between two vehicles before flying off the side of the road. While others involved walked away with minor whiplash, I suffered multiple facial and hand lacerations, a broken nose, and back pain that will require ongoing medical care. The accident left me hospitalized and unable to attend my first college class, which meant I had to be dropped from the course.

This accident not only caused serious injuries, but it also destroyed my family's only car—the vehicle we relied on for work, school, and daily life. Now, I am unable to work while I recover, and the medical bills are piling up. The loss of our car has made it even harder for my family to get by, and we are struggling to cover basic living expenses during this difficult time.
