Road to Recovery - Sarge!
Donation protected
Those who know James “Sarge” Sargent know him as the loyal, hardworking teddy bear we are all lucky enough to claim as our friend.
Unfortunately, the long-time Talladega Superspeedway employee was bit by a spider on his right leg, which caused him to not only be restricted from working, but he faced health battles that would change his life forever. Doctors said he is lucky to be alive. They did what they could but ultimately had to amputate his leg due to the severity of the infection.
Doctors praised Sarge on his attitude and sprits, given the condition and outcome, knowing what had to be done. After a few surgeries and being at the hospital in Birmingham for 2 weeks, he is home “ready to heal and move on.” When asking Sarge, “what can we do for you?” he would say, “if you find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow!!..but just keep being my friend.”
Cannot imagine having to adjust to this new lifestyle that our buddy is going through, but every little bit helps with getting Sarge where he needs to be. He isn't on social media, but wants everyone to know he is doing great, and is so appreciative for the thoughts and prayers!
