Road To Masters World Swimming Champiomships

My name is Michael (Grey) Brett and I'm a Canadian transplant athlete training to compete at the Masters World Swimming Championships taking place in Doha, Qatar at the end of February 2024. In April of 2023. I competed at the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia where I swam 5 races, taking home five gold medals and setting 5 world records while representing my deceased organ donor and Canada.

As a result of that performance I was recognized as the Male Outstanding Athlete of the Games and Sport Aurora's Athlete Of The Year. https://bit.ly/3uFHB3n

In 2005, I was diagnosed with an incurable and untreatable auto-immune disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis which resulted in me requiring a lifesaving liver transplant in June of 2015. Since that time, I have dedicated a large portion of my life to giving back to the cause that saved mine and being a leader in promoting healthy, active lifestyles for organ transplant recipients.

I am the co-founder and board secretary for www.moveforlifefoundation.com, a key member of the annual #OrganDonorSwim, a partner with the World Transplant Games Federation's initiative titled ReFitForLife, I have spoken about my transplant experience at various high schools and universities and have become an engaged leader in the transplant community and transplant sport specifically.

It is my dream to, once again, represent my organ donor and Canada on the world stage and showcase what a transplant recipient athlete is capable of in his bonus years on the planet.

The money raised will be directly put toward games registration fees, accommodations and flights.

I have qualified for the Masters World Swimming Championships already and continue to compete locally in preparation for the games. I am giving my 100% effort to being in the best possible shape I can be in order to have the greatest performance of my life.
