My name is Nadia Javid, and I am 18 years old from Annapolis, Md. I am halfway through my freshmen year at High Point University, and I am coming here in a dire way.

On November 9th, I found out that my father, Ben, passed away while staying at a hotel in California. This was completely unexpected, and my younger brother and I, as well as the entire family have been devastated in countless ways.
My father battled his entire life with depression and bipolar disorder, and it lead to his demise. He was graciously paying for my tuition at school, as my mother and he had divorced, but still had a very good relationship.
Upon his passing, we found out that he had no will, no retirement, and no life insurance. His liabilities outweighed his assets, so when all is said and done, there will be no money for me to go to High Point, or just about any university. As someone that has fought depression and social anxiety during their entire life, I went to HPU in the fall and immediately fell in love. I’ve never been as continuously happy as I have been at HPU, and I don’t know where I can be as happy as I am there.

I have received $25,000 in yearly aid/scholarships, but that still leaves another $32,000 yearly that my mother can not pay for. I am here to see who can help, as anything will do. I am continuously applying for scholarships, and trying to do whatever I can to stay at this amazing school. I ask for your grace, kindness, and generosity to help me stay at my favorite place on earth.
