Road repair fundraiser - Village of San José
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Yolima, and my colleague Luke and I are raising money to fix the road at the Village of San José in Amagá Antioquia in Colombia. This road serves over 200 families and it is the only road for the villagers to get access to the main town, Amagá, which is 12 kilometers away. This is also the only road to transport the agricultural products the farmers grow to sell at the town, like coffee and plantains, as well as the only way to bring into their homes the groceries and other goods they purchase from the town.
Not only this, but also the road for the high school children to travel from the village to the schools and back to their families every week.
The heavy and continuous rains during the past year have really damaged the road, which has been washed out in several sections and has become very dangerous and challenging to transit. The municipality has helped with what they can but the damages are so big they are not able to repair all of the sections.
The coffee harvest is coming and the villagers are very worried about how to get their coffee out to be sold. They have built temporary bridges in the different sections but they are unstable and dangerous.
You can help by making a monetary donation; anything you can donate helps tremendously. The money will be used to purchase construction materials so the people at the village can fix the most dangerous sections of the road and build retaining walls in these areas; this would allow cars carrying people and goods to transit safely.
I will personally take care of the purchasing of materials and will share the progress as well as all of the receipts of the purchases with all of you so you can be sure whatever money you donate will be put towards this cause.
Thank you very much for your donation, we really appreciate it!
