Do you know Ro (Rosanna) or Mark Wieder? I know how close knit communities can be. I know how close the Northwestern Lehigh community is. I also know how close the cancer community is. I know how important the community of family, friends, and even the kindness of strangers is. I know we all can come together to help one another. I know when one of us is in need we all step up to the plate. It is with great sadness and also confidence in our communities that I am reaching out to you all, to help support one of our own. A Northwestern Lehigh community member, and a member of the cancer community, a friend, a mother, a wife, a stranger As Ro's best friend, I'm asking that not only do we wish to support with her medical expenses financially, but on a personal level too. Her humble and selfless approach as she faces these difficult times is enough to inspire anyone.
Here is her story:
Ro is a loving mother of 2 boys and a loving wife of 24 years. She is in need of our love and support. Some of you may know her story, but for those of you who do not, it is one of a warrior. Ro has been battling breast cancer since 2012. Ro stopped her treatments in 2013 and was in remission, for 7 years. Devastatingly, over the past few months, Ro has found out that the cancer is back. Her cancer has metastasized to her bones, liver, spine and lymph nodes. She is going to have some tough battles ahead of her, but anyone who knows Ro knows that she is the ultimate fighter.
There is no current cure for Ro's diagnosis. Ro will be traveling to Scottsdale, Arizona and other places that offer treatments to slow the growth of the cancer down. As anyone can imagine, her journey will take a toll on her as well as her family. Maintaining a family, is difficult enough without the lingering burden of enormous debt accumulated due to her conditions. The travel costs alone will be a huge burden, as Ro and her husband are both self employed, and their insurance plan doesn't cover much. That being said, we are hoping to alleviate some of their stress by collecting monetary donations for them through a gofundme account. The smallest amount could make the biggest difference.
If there are any left over funds, it is at the request of Ro that those funds will be given to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
