My nephew, Ryan, was in a serious car accident recently, leaving him with limited sensation from the waist down. He will be transferred to Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO, soon to start the rehab journey and we are grateful that he was accepted into a premier program. While we are fortunate Ryan has insurance that will cover much of the cost, it is a high deductible plan with a significant out of pocket maximum. We anticipate that the max will need to be paid in 2025 and 2026. Future years are not as clear though with the serious nature of the injuries, deductibles, treatment that may not be covered, dental work and other unanticipated expenses are a sure bet for several years.
