We’re creating this space to keep everyone updated on Tracy and to gather support as she begins a long road of healing and recovery.
On Sunday November 16th, Tracy sustained a severe spinal cord injury. She initially lost all feeling from the waist down and was rapidly losing sensation in her arms as well — essentially everything below the injury site. She was rushed into emergency surgery, where doctors fused the vertebrae in her neck that were extremely damaged.
The surgery went as well as we could have hoped. Since then, Tracy has regained feeling in her arms. Her gross motor movement is limited and her fine motor function is still very restricted, but the return of sensation is a meaningful first step. Yesterday, she was able to show a small amount of movement in her leg. This was a moment that gave us all hope that this is just the beginning of more progress to come.
Today, Tracy was moved out of the ICU. She will remain in the hospital until she is stable enough to transfer to a rehabilitation facility, where she will continue intensive therapy.
While fortunate enough to have insurance, her spinal cord injury brings needs that go far beyond what insurance covers. Your generosity will directly support her comfort, safety, independence, and long-term recovery. Donations will help with:
- Adaptive equipment for daily living (mobility aids, specialized tools, bathroom and home modifications).
- Adaptive clothing that supports independence and accommodates limited mobility.
- Meal support — prepared meals, meal delivery services, and assistance with daily nutrition.
- Transportation for medical appointments, therapy sessions, and eventually community mobility.
- Rehabilitation and therapy needs not fully covered by insurance.
- Other emerging needs as we learn more about what recovery will require.
If a donation isn’t possible, sharing messages of encouragement, checking in, and keeping Tracy in your thoughts and prayers make a tremendous difference. Every gesture reminds her that she is not going through this journey alone.
We will update here as often as we can. Thank you for your love, your messages, your prayers, and your encouragement. Your support means more than you know, and we are holding onto hope every day.
